About the UK Tour
Despite working on the middle-scale abroad for the last 3 years, as well as regular UK performances at both traditional and rural venues, 2008 sees the first ever UK national tour by StopGAP Dance Company.
Throughout the summer of 2007 an early version of the shorter Portfolio Collection programme was successfully tested in theatres, dance houses and day centres in Scandanavia, France and Spain. This programme was adapted and finalised when the company returned home to best characterise StopGAP's strong dance technique, whilst at the same time giving a balance between drama and humour. But that was merely the beginning of the story…
As StopGAP continues to experiment with the very nature of integration, the evolution of the programme is guaranteed. As living dance pieces, StopGAP takes the work to the edge. The dancers may change roles within the pieces thus challenging gender and disability preconceptions both within the work and externally for the audience watching.
This evolution, combined with the programme variations at different venues throughout the UK Tour and beyond, is very much in the spirit of why Portfolio Collection was created and is a reflection of the continued commitment by StopGAP to make everything they do as accessible to as many people as possible.
The UK Tour 2008 also includes one last chance to see the critically acclaimed StopGAP classic 'Corpus'.
